Lupita Nyong’o is having the best year ever. Back in March, she won her first Oscar and now, she’s won another just as prestigious, highly coveted award: People‘s Most Beautiful.
The 31-year-old stunner graces the cover of their annual issue, along with our girl Jennifer Lawrence, who lost the Oscar and top spot on the Most Beautiful list to Lupita.
The actress says it took her some time to appreciate her own unique beauty, when all she saw on TV was “light skin and long, flowing straight hair.” She credits her mother for instilling self-confidence, who “always said I was beautiful,” Lupita explains. “And I finally believed her at some point.”
Lupita feels her best now when she’s not all dolled up, saying she appreciates “when I have been called beautiful with not one drop of makeup on.” She woke up like this!
