Cop allegedly shot former JLP politician after he opened gunfire on woman

ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — Alleged eyewitnesses have informed OBSERVER ONLINE that former Jamaica Labour Party councillor-candidate

Warrenton Barham was shot dead by a policeman after he opened gunfire on a young woman in Santa Cruz St Elizabeth this afternoon.

It is said that the woman turned up at the Tabletop Restaurant in the heart of Santa Cruz, which is the business place operated by Barham and his wife, and during a confrontation, he pulled his firearm and shot her several times.

People on the scene told OBSERVER ONLINE that a policeman, who was in the vicinity, ordered the businessman to drop his weapon but he did not comply and was shot.

The dead woman has been identified as Latoya Williamson, who is said to be in her 20s.

Barham represented the JLP in the Siloah Division of North East St Elizabeth in the 2007 and 2012 local government elections.

He lost on both occasions to sitting Councillor Audie Myers.
