Police in Florida are working with their Jamaican counterparts with renewed interest in solving the decade-old murder case of Omar ‘Best’ Collymore’s girlfriend, Angela Aguiar, who was killed in similar circumstances as his wife was in Jamaica in early January.
Collymore was arrested on February 8 after being apprehended at a guest house in St Elizabeth.
Two days later, he was charged with the murder of his wife, Simone Campbell-Collymore, who was killed along with taxi operator, Winston Watson, on January 2 in the Red Hills area.
According to a report in the Florida-based Sun-Sentinel newspaper, Fort Lauderdale detective, Tracey Figone, in a statement, has noted the similarities between the murders of Campbell-Collymore and Aguiar, who was Collymore’s girlfriend when she was killed on June 30, 2008.

Both women were romantically involved with Collymore, and had insurance policies that listed him as a beneficiary when they were killed.
Collymore collected US$400,000 from Aguiar’s US$1 million policy, with her son, Elijah Aguiar, getting the rest.
Collymore was a suspect in Aguiar’s death, but the Florida police were not able to link him to the murder.
Aguiar was shot and killed about 3:30 a.m. while they both were on their way to meet friends at a bar.
Collymore reported that as they got out of their truck, an unknown assailant approached and shot her in the head and chest. He was not hurt during the attack, as he said he took cover after seeing the gun.
Campbell-Collymore, was in a taxi being driven by Watson when men on motorcycles drove up and shot and killed both.
Collymore was himself subsequently attacked and shot along with another man, while they were sitting in his vehicle at a premises the housed an office of Allied Insurance on Belmont Road in New Kingston on January 19. According to reports, he had gone there to hand in the claim form for Campbell-Collymore’s insurance policy.
He was taken to court last Friday, and was remanded in custody along with co-accused Michael Adams, while another accused, Dwight Pink, has also been charged by the police with the murder of Campbell-Collymore.
According to the Sun-Sentinel, the Fort Lauderdale police are hoping that the Jamaican police’s investigations into the death of Campbell-Collymore might help them to uncover if Collymore had a link with the murder of Aguiar
