Ganja reportedly found in tattoo artist’s luggage at NMIA

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A man was arrested and charged by detectives from the Narcotics Division after he was reportedly found with approximately 4.5 pounds of ganja at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) yesterday.

He is 27-year-old Warren Hassart, a tattoo artist of Bath district, Manchester.

Reports are that about 1:20 pm, Hassart was about to check in to board a flight destined to the Eastern Caribbean when he was stopped, interviewed and his luggage searched by the lawmen.

Four packages of compressed ganja, with an approximate weight of 4.5 pounds were reportedly found. The illicit drug has an estimated street value of $18,000.

He was subsequently charged with the offences of possession of ganja, dealing in ganja and taking steps to export ganja.

Hassart is scheduled to appear before the Corporate Area Parish Court on Friday, December 29.
