Guns bark at funeral service in Kingston, leaving three dead

Gunmen surprised mourners at a church on Windward Road in Kingston on Sunday afternoon, with an attack that left three persons dead and another four nursing bullet wounds.

The incident resulted in a large number of persons gathering at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH), where the injured persons and some who later died were taken.

Indications are that the attacking gunmen travelled on and in a number of motor vehicles, including bikes, to the funeral service for 30-year-old Romain Anthony White, a higgler who was stabbed to death about a month ago in downtown Kingston during a dispute over a parking space.

Pandemonium reportedly broke out at the church once the shooting started, with the attendeea fleeing in all directions.

However, amidst the mayhem, one of the alleged attackers was held and badly beaten before being rescued by the police.

The alleged attacker was also taken to the KPH for medical treatment in the custody of the police.

Further details are to come on the shooting and the reactions to the incident.
