Judge grants murder-accused wish for “longest possible sentence”

An imprisoned murder-accused who asked for the “longest possible sentence” was granted his wish.

Jamar Antonio Pile, 25 years, of Jackmans, St Michael made the request to the court last week. The accused explained that he needed to be serving time in order to participate in a prison programme. In light of this, he pleaded guilty to entering Freekz Customz between January 4 and 6, 2014 and stealing a television worth $1500.

“At your request, I would like the longest possible sentence please,” he told the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court last week.

He reiterated his pleas yesterday: “I pleaded guilty so I can fulfill that programme, so when I reach back to society I will have that skill. I don’t want to sit idly”.

“I on a bigger charge and my time best spent learning something,” he added. Last week Pile said he knew indictable charges like murder took a long time to get started.
