London’s murder rate way up-calls for Mayor to resign

England’s capital city London is seeing an escalating murder rate with 48 people murdered so far this year.

This is leading to calls for London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan to resign as London continues to be besieged by more ghastly murders.

In order to combat this, Khan has suggested more stop and searches in the capital city.

One reason posited for the uptick in murders is the reduction in funding for the police.

Khan took the issue full on blaming the Government by tweeting: “Tory police cuts have already cost London thousands of police officers and staff, most of our police stations front counters and police buildings.

“It’s time for the Government to stop misleading the public and properly fund our police.”

Most of the murders are as a result of fatal stabbings (31) .

Matthew Monkman tweeted: “Resign Khan, we don’t need weak people.”

Piers Morgan also tweeted: “This is happening on your watch, Mr Mayor – what are you going to do about it?”

Tottenham MP, David Lammy via Facebook

MP, David Lammy told the BBC that drug gangs controlled by Eastern Europeans are behind most of the increasing violent crime in London.

“What drives the gangs and the turf wars is an 11 billion pound cocaine drug market. We are the drugs market of Europe and I’m hearing nothing about what we’re going to do about that rising drug market.

“Drugs are prolific. They are as prolific as ordering pizza. You can get them on Snapchat and WhatsApp.”

Khan sought to defend the onslaught levelled at him by telling BBC London: “We are doing what we can, working around the clock to make sure we grapple with this issue.

“I don’t accept Mr Lammy’s claim that the police have issue ‘lost control’ of crime in London. What I do accept is there is a crime across the country. There has been an increase since 2014.

“It’s a natural problem. You can’t cut 40 per cent from the Metropolitan Police, 46 per cent from youth provisions in London and not expect to see consequences.”
