Pedestrians mowed down by out-of-control taxi in Half Way Tree

Two men are now in hospital after being mowed down by an out-of-control taxi in Half Way Tree, St Andrew on Friday.

Reports are that about 7:00 am, a taxi was traveling in the vicinity of the Mandela Park in Half Way Tree when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which mowed down pedestrians and commuters near a bus stop before it slammed into a wall.

Two men were injured in the crash, with one apparently suffering a partially severed leg. They were rushed to hospital by police who were quick on the scene.

The driver was given a breathalyser test at the scene before being taken into custody for questioning.
