Policewoman chopped to death at home in St Andrew

A policewoman was attacked and chopped to death in the Duhaney Park/Patrick City area of St Andrew on Saturday night.

Reports are that about 9:30, the woman – District Constable Mellissa Edwards-Whyte of Crime Stop – was hacked to death by a man who is believed to have been a close associate of hers.

The details of the incident are still sketchy at this time, but reports are that the incident resulted from a domestic dispute.

More details to come later.

The attack on the female cop came just days after a 47-year-old Jamaican woman, Opal Fern Christian-Jones, was hacked to death by her husband, Jermaine Jones – who is also from Jamaica – in Georgia, US.

Reports are that the woman was at home with her daughter and husband, when a dispute developed.

Allegations are that the man, in a fit of rage, used a knife to stab the woman several times.

He then partially severed her head with the weapon.

He later turned in himself to the authorities.
