LONDON, United Kingdom (CMC) — Wes Morgan became the first ever Jamaican to score in a Champions League game as reigning English champions Leicester City dramatically overturned a first-leg deficit to beat Sevilla 2-0 and storm into the last eight of the Europe’s most celebrated competition on Tuesday.

Entering the contest at the King Power Stadium trailing 1-2 following defeat at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan last month, Leicester ensured their European fairytale continued as defender Morgan and Marc Albrigton scored in either half to snuff out the threat from the Spanish side.

Morgan led Leicester City to the English Premier League title for the first time.

Sevilla were reduced to 10 men when Samir Nasri was sent off in the 74th minute after picking up a second yellow and Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel saved Steven N’Zonzi’s 80th minute penalty, that would have taken the tie into extra time.

With the victory, Leicester joined European heavyweights Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.

“Incredible, I can’t quite believe it. We’re newcomers in the Champions League. We didn’t expect to get this far and here we are,” Morgan said following the sensational win before their home crowd in the East Midlands.

“I’m not sure this is ever going to happen again, but we did it. We did it and we proved a lot of people wrong. It was a big game for us and a big night for everyone involved with Leicester and we’ve pulled off the impossible again.”

Morgan snatched his piece of history in the 27th minute to put Leicester ahead when he arrived at the far post to somehow bundle in Riyad Mahrez’s free kick.

The strike, coupled with their away goal, put Leicester ahead and Sevilla immediately went in search of the win.

Leicester’s lead held at half-time and they doubled their advantage nine minutes into the second half when defender Adil Rami knocked down a Mahrez free kick into the path of Albrighton who produced a clinical finish.

The Foxes will discover their quarter-final opponents in Friday’s draw.
