Trinidad national charged with murder of 13-year-old girl

A 27-year-old Trinidad & Tobago national has been charged with murder in the death of 13-year old Shanoya Wray whose decomposed body was found in a Kingston house earlier this year.

He has been identified as Sanju Maharaj. Another man, 19-year-old Lenardo Madden of Kingston, has been charged with accessory after the fact in connection with the death of the teen.

The two men were arrested July 20 following the discovery of the skeletal remains of the teenager at a property on Whalley Close, Kingston 6.

Both men were slapped with charges over the weekend after they were questioned by detectives in the case. They are to appear in the Half Way Tree Parish Court on Friday.

Madden has since retained the service of attorney-at law, Peter Champagnie.

Police said Wray went missing from her home on July 15 and an Ananda Alert sent out for her.

Shortly after 8:00 am on Friday, July 20, residents in Whalley Close stumbled upon the human remains and alerted the police.

Following a series of investigations, the cops arrested the two suspects, with the company of whom she was last seen alive.
