Two men, including ‘Taliban’, cut down by cops in St James ‘gunfight’

Investigators from the Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM) have commenced a probe into Wednesday morning’s fatal shooting of two men who allegedly engaged the police in a shootout in St James.

One of the men, Donrick Campbell, alias ‘Taliban’, was said to have been listed as being wanted by the St James police in connection with a number of murders and shootings in the parish.

The other deceased has been identified as Owen Jenkins.

Reports are that about 4:40 a.m., the police went to a premises in Irwin, St James, where they were engaged in a gunfight with men who alighted from a house on the property.

After the shooting died down, Campbell and Jenkins were found suffering from gunshot wounds, and were taken to hospital, where they were both pronounced dead.

The police said two firearms were recovered from the scene of the shooting.
