Vybz Kartel Trial Day 2: Clive Williams Murder

Vybz Kartel’s long awaited second murder gets underway in the Home Circuit court on Monday (November 18).

The former Portmore Empire leader along with his five co-accused entered a not guilty plea in relation to the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.

On the opening day a large group of Vybz Kartel supporters, mostly women, gathered outside the courthouse shouting “free Worl’Boss.”

The court has also started its selection of jurors which is expected to be completed today. Following which the prosecution and defense attorneys will give their opening statements.

A total of nine jurors, comprising of four females and five males were selected yesterday.

Charged along with Vybz Kartel are his protege Shawn “Storm” Campbell, Kahira Jones, André St John, Stylist Calvin “Moonie” Haye, and Shane Williams. Haye had his bail extended while the other five men were remanded in custody.

Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, have been behind bars since September of 2011.

 

According to police officers, Vybz Kartel and the other men charged in the murder summoned Clive Williams and another man to a home in Havendale, St. Andrew in August 2011. Officers alleged that Williams was beaten to death while the other man escaped.

The other man, name not known, is believed to be a witness for the prosecution.

Clive Williams was killed over a missing firearm believed to be owned by Vybz Kartel, police sources say.

His body has yet to be found.
