$2.8m worth of ganja found on vessel near St Ann; 3 arrested

Two Bahamians and a Jamaican were arrested by the Marine Police after they seized 700 pounds of ganja and a 22-foot vessel in an operation off the coast of Discovery Bay, St Ann on Friday.

The identities of the men are being withheld, pending further investigations.

Reports are that a team from the Marine Police observed a vessel in the waters near Discovery Bay.

The police signalled for the vessel to be stopped, but the captain did not comply and a chase ensued.

The 22-foot engine boat was subsequently intercepted and searched and 150 parcels of ganja were found and seized.

The drug, which weighed approximately 700 pounds, has an estimated street value of $2.8 million.

The three persons on board the vessel were subsequently arrested.
