JAMAICA-BORN contestant Anita Antoinette made it to the live rounds of Season 7′s NBC talent competition, The Voice, on Monday night.

Antoinette’s rendition of Rude by Canadian reggae fusion band Magic! totally impressed her coach Gwen Stefani, who chose her over stable mate Craig Wayne Boyd. Boyd performed a rendition of Can’t You See by the Marshall Tucker Band.

“Wow! I was not expecting that,” said an elated Antoinette, after Stefani announced her as the victor.

“I am so happy. I’m going to the live playoffs, baby! Yes!” she continued.

The Kingston-born singer — who migrated to Boston at eight — celebrated by hugging her coach Stefani and did a victory dance with Pharell, another coach in the competition.

Both judges expressed confidence in the singer’s ability to move on.

This is Antoinette’s second attempt at the competition, as she was unable to impress a judge to get a chair turned in Season 3.
