SAN CRISTOBAL, Dominican Republic — Jamaica’s senior Reggae Girlz made a sparkling re-entry to football on Friday, demolishing St Lucia 14-0 in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) qualifier here at the Estadio Panamericano.
The Jamaicans scored five goals in the first half and followed with another nine in the second half to eliminate the St Lucians, who were drubbed 0-7 by the hosts Dominican Republic on Wednesday.
Shakira Duncan scored four times, striking the net in the 37th, 56th, 58th and the 63rd minutes.
Substitute Alexa Allen grabbed a treble, calmly finishing in minutes 69, 77 and 88.
Omolyn Davis (2nd minute), Sashana Campbell (28th), Reggae Girl debutant Donna-Kay Henry (45th), Kenesha Reid (81st), Amy Loughran (90th) and Sherona Forrester (90th) scored one a-piece.
As if the Jamaicans needed any help, an own goal was also conceded by St Lucia captain Ellaisa Marquis in first half injury time.
Jamaica next face hosts Dominican Republic on Sunday to decide the Group Five winner.
Only the top team in the group will advance to the CFU Women’s Cup Finals in Trinidad & Tobago in August.
The national senior women’s programme was dormant for several years due to lack of funding.
