“REGGAE IN THE PARK” RETURNS TO PHILADELPHIA AUGUST 3!

The promoters of Reggae in The Park – Philadelphia’s premiere summer reggae & roots festival — are pleased to announce a cast of legendary, iconic artists for the third annual event to be held Sunday, August 3rd at the Mann in Reggae in the Park once again brings the Delaware Valley community together for an all-day family fun-filled event during the summer season.

This year’s festival features 2 stages of music on both the Mann’s main stage and at the Crescendo Tent plus DJ/Soundsystem sets on the main plaza. The event also features arts and craft vendors, and the expansion of the global and Caribbean food vendors at the top of the hill.

As Reggae in the Park continues to grow, several fun-filled family events and specialty vendors have been added in order to achieve the full reggae experience including a domino tournament and a healthy lifestyle green pavilion.

The main stage will feature Grammy-Award winning iconic reggae bands Steel Pulse and Inner Circle. Also featured on the main stage will be Matisyahu, Morgan Heritage, the Expendables, dancehall superstars Konshens and Mavado and based roots rock reggae bands Jah Works, Cultureal and Spokey Speaky.

“We are very excited about the incredible lineup we have put together for the third annual Reggae in the Park festival.  We have some of reggae’s top icons as well as some of dancehall hottest acts. Having Matisyahu, Steel Pulse, Inner Circle, Morgan Heritage,the Expandables, Mavado and Konshens share the stage will make for an epic reggae experience in the park”, stated co-promoter Jamaican Dave.

Headliners – Main Stage

Steel Pulse. Over the course of a 35 year career, Steel Pulse have been known for their revolutionary messages of love and justice for mankind. “Without love there is no justice and without justice there is no peace” is the mission of the band. The Grammy-Award- winning band was formed in 1975 & remains a mainstay in the reggae scene.

Matisyahu. Emerging in the early 2000′s, Matisyahu achieved early success as “The hasidic reggae superstar” with his breakout album ‘Live at Stubbs’ which reached #1 on the Reggae Album charts and number 30 on the Billboard top 200.

Inner Circle

Inner Circle. Grammy-Award- winning “Bad Boys of Reggae” , are known for their 30 plus years in the music industry and their immense popularity in reggae. Born in , this quintet is one of the worlds most respected reggae groups with a long string of success stretching back to the 70′s.

Inner Circle has garnered fans of reggae and pop throughout their career especially after their hit single “Bad Boys” feature in the Eddie Murphy soundtrack for Beverly Hills Cop III, which years later became the title song for Will Smith, Martin Lawrence action film “Bad Boys”.

Morgan Heritage. Nearly two decades and ten albums later, the mission has come full circle for Morgan Heritage.

Globally known as the “Royal Family of Reggae,” and now today being dubbed as the “Rolling Stones of Reggae” (in large part due to the act’s electric stage shows), Morgan Heritage has established themselves as the premiere live group on the reggae circuit.

Steel Pulse

Mavado.  With dancehall hits from the early 90s to present, Mavado has established himself as one of main staples of the dancehall arena.

With his signing to DJ Khaled’s record label ‘We the Best Music’ Group in 2011, Mavado has expanded his reach beyond the dancehall scene and into the hip hop world collaborating with the likes of Meek Mill, Ace Hood & Akon.

It was also recently confirmed that he would be featured on tracks on new albums from both Rick Ross & Iggy Azalea, poising him for a breakout year in 2014.

Konshens. Dubbed the” Prince of Dancehall”, Konshens is rapidly climbing the ladder of international stardom.  Most recently, he was featured on The Arsenio Hall show along with Kingston-born reggae/dancehall icon Sean Paul.

With a relatively young career in the music business, Konshens versatility has already garnered fans from both the dancehall and reggae arena.

Mavado

The Expendables. Growing up in Santa Cruz, CA, in a laid back lifestyle; surfing, skating, partying, and playing music were commonplace.  Since 1997, The Expendables have staked their claim in the California surf-rock genre by headlining venues from coast to coast.

Blending reggae, punk rock, and 80s style dueling guitar solos, The Expendables have made heads turn and floors shake for years.
