16-y-o boy held in relation to 8-y-o girl’s killing in Denham Town 

A teenage boy has been implicated in the murder of eight-year-old Toya Brown in Denham Town, West Kingston on May 6 this year.

The teenager was one of two persons arrested by the Kingston Western police on Friday, May 22.

The 16 year old is being held on reasonable suspicion of murder, illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

Toya was shot and killed at about 5pm on Wednesday, May 6. She was reportedly standing on the staircase of her home on Dumfries Street when the suspect allegedly pointed a firearm upwards and began firing gunshots. The victim was hit in the upper body and later died at a hospital.

The other detainee was apprehended during an operation at about 4pm in connection with the February 2020 murder of 42-year-old Kevin Clarke of Greenwich Road, Kingston 5.

Reports from the Denham Town police are that about 7.15 pm, Clarke was standing along the roadway when a group of men drove up in a motorcar and shot Clarke several times to the upper body.

The identity of the suspect is being withheld, pending further investigations.

Meanwhile, detectives are reporting that they have charged 31-year-old Domanie Taylor, otherwise called ‘Itchy Pang’, of Seivwright Pathway, Kingston 12 with two counts each of shooting with intent, illegal possession of firearm, and illegal possession of ammunition.

Taylor was accosted during an operation on Tangerine Road, Kingston 11 on Tuesday, May 19. He is accused of brandishing a firearm and opening gunfire at a police team as they patrolled in the Kingston Western area.

Taylor is scheduled to appear in the Home Circuit Court at a date to be finalised by the authorities.
