3 women shot, one fatally, in separate St Ann and St Catherine attacks 

Three women were shot, one fatally, in separate gun attacks in St Ann and St Catherine on Tuesday night.

A man also succumbed to injuries he sustained in one of the shooting incidents.

The deceased are 46-year-old Karlene Wright, a bartender of Norbrook, St Andrew, and 41-year-old Karan Llewellyn, alias ‘Rasta’, a security supervisor of Jack’s River, St Mary.

In the first incident, Llewellyn and a woman who is said to be his girlfriend, were shot by unknown assailants in Seaview Heights in Priory, St Ann.

The woman remains hospitalised.

Reports from the police are that about 9pm on Tuesday, Llewellyn and the woman were seated in a vehicle when they were pounced upon and shot by armed men who fled the scene in a motorcar.

The victims were transported to the St Ann’s Bay Hospital, where Llewellyn was pronounced dead and the woman was admitted for treatment.

Approximately 90 minutes later, Wright was shot and killed and another woman injured by unknown assailants in Giblatore district in Bog Walk, St Catherine.

Reports are that about 10:30 pm, Wright and the other woman were inside a yard when they were fired upon by gunmen, and ran to a nearby family house.

The police were subsequently alerted.

On the arrival of the police, both wounded women were taken to the hospital, where Wright was pronounced dead.

The other woman sustained a gunshot wound to her left leg, and was treated and released.

The police in the respective parishes are probing the developments.
