Two shot dead on the same road in St Thomas within 24 hours

The police are maintaining their presence in sections of Bull Bay in St Thomas following two separate fatal gun attacks there over a 24-hour period, which left two men dead earlier this week.

The killings, which are said to be gang-related, have opened the murder tally in St Thomas for the year.

In the first incident on Wednesday morning, 23-year old Chinyo Lewis of 10 Miles, Bull Bay in the parish, was killed at a shop on Gypsum Road.

It was reported that about 2:00 p.m., Lewis was standing at the shop near the entrance to Gypsum Road in 10 Miles, when two armed men approached him and shot him several times.

The attackers then escaped from the crime scene.

Lewis was assisted to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Several hours later, 63-year-old machine operator, Cumi Daley, was shot and killed by a gunman along Gypsum Road.

It is alleged that about 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, Daley, a resident of Tank Well Road, St Thomas, was on Gypsum Road heading to work when a man walked up to him and shot him.

Residents, who heard the explosions, alerted the police and Daley was found suffering from gunshot wounds when the law enforcers arrived at the scene.

He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The police have theorised that Daley’s killing was a reprisal for the shooting death of Lewis in the same area hours before.

Further investigations are ongoing to locate those responsible for the fatal shootings which have resulted in some residents reportedly fleeing the 10 Miles area in Bull Bay.
