ST ANN, Jamaica – Parents, principal and staff at the United Learning Centre in Ocho Rios, St Ann, are this morning elated as one of their students who sat the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) achieved perfect scores in all subject areas.

She is Kayla Rankine, the head girl at the institution.

While she attained perfect scores, her deputy, Antonique Tennant, missed it in just one subject area – retaining 100 per cent passes in four subject areas and 99 per cent in one.

Both Antonique and Kayla will be going to Immaculate Conception High School in September.

The school has 36 students in its grade six cohort and reports that this year’s overall performance was the best they have seen in years.

“While we do perform well yearly, this is the first time we have achieved perfect scores,” Bursar Owen Frazer told OBSERVER ONLINE.

He said in previous years, scores averaged around 98 and 99 per cent.

He noted that a 100 per cent score was attained by 13 students in science, six in mathematics, while three each had perfect scores in language arts, communication task (12 marks), and social studies.

Eleven-year-old Holy Childhood Prep School student Tariq Wright, who will be attending the Wolmer’s Boys School in September, also received perfect scores in the 2015 sitting of GSAT.
