Bahamas police seize ganja worth US$7.5m

NASSAU, Bahamas (CMC) – Bahamas police said they confiscated marijuana with a street value of US$7.5 million in an exercise involving members of the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).

The police said that members of the Drug Enforcement Unit and their US counterparts, acting on a tip off, went to an undeveloped area in East Grand Bahama, where they discovered a number of marijuana plants.

The plots contained approximately 75 thousand plants, the police said. Officers also discovered three black garbage bags that contained freshly processed marijuana along with three makeshift tents in the area, the police statement added.

The statement said no one had been arrested and that investigations were continuing.
