BASS ODYSSEY TO BE HONORED BY THE JAMAICA REGGAE INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION!

Keith ‘Keithy’ Walford Jr. of Bass Odyssey—

ST ANN-based sound Bass Odyssey will be among the recipients of the Jamaica Reggae Industry (JaRia) Honor Awards scheduled for the Courtleigh Auditorium in New Kingston, tonight.

Sound manager and selector Keith ‘Keithy’ Walford Jnr told the Jamaica Observer it’s a pleasure to be recognised by JaRia.

“You hardly find sound systems receiving this kind of honor, especially one out in the country. It’s heartening to see that people recognise and see the hard work we put into the business,” he said.

Bass Odyssey, based in the resort parish, has been around since 1989.

According to Walford, the sound system’s longevity is hinged to their reinventing themselves.

“We continue to be creative, changing our styles and the way we play,” he said.

Walford said despite not being located in the party central of Kingston, the sound system has remained in demand.

“We have weekly events here in the country and our sound is kept busy but they are not highlighted,” he said.
