Big gun, ammo find at Kingston Wharves 

The police have seized 15 guns, including a number of high-powered weapons, along with 4,000 rounds of ammunition, at Kingston Wharves.

The arms, along with a ballistic vest, were found on Thursday evening, the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) revealed in a release on social media, explaining that the discovery was made through collaborative efforts of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) and the Jamaica Customs.

Among the weapons were two AK-47 rifles; three 5.56 carbine rifles; two 5.56 rifles; eight pistols; 32 assorted magazines; two 100-round 5.56 spiral magazine and over 4,000 assorted rounds of ammunition.

Photos of the find were released by the force, which in the release noted that the high-powered firearms and ammunition were destined for the criminal underworld, which continue to wreak havoc in the island.

Commissioner of Police George Quallo in commending the members of the security forces and Jamaica Customs said that “This is a significant seizure and we encourage citizens to support the security forces to rid our country of the crime scourge and preserve the safety of our nation.”

There was no indication of whether any arrest has been made in relation to the find.
