Bike riding ‘gunmen’ from St Thomas held by cops in Denham Town

Police arrested two men and seized a firearm during an operation in Golden Heights section of Denham Town, Kingston on Friday.

Police say the men were apprehended after they were seen on a motorcycle heading to the area.

Sources claim the men were planning to carry out an attack in the community that has been on edge following a set of shootings in recent weeks.

The two men identified as Anthony Palmer, 26 and Jerwayne Clarke otherwise called Tajay both of St Thomas addresses, have since been charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition and illegal possession of marijuana.

Police report that at about 7:00 p.m. a team of officers was conducting an operation in the area when they saw the two men travelling on a motorcycle.

The men were stopped and searched and a firearm and several rounds of ammunition and a quantity of marijuana were found in a bag they were carrying.

Police say tensions have been high in and around sections of Denham Town following a series of tit for tat attacks between members of a number of gangs operating in the area.

The operation took place days after another man was fatally shot by police during another operation in Denham Town just minutes after he reportedly carried out a gun attack on a man in the community.

A firearm was also recovered in that operation.
