Buju donates Festival Song money to poultry project at Children’s Home

Buju Banton has donated his J$3million cash prize winnings from the Festival Song Competition to the construction of a poultry/egg layers project at Sunbeam Children’s Home, Jamaica.

According to a post on the Buju Banton Foundation Instagram page, the project, upon completion, is intended to provide a sustainable income stream for the childcare facility and employable skills for its wards.

The Foundation said the project will provide training in sound work ethics for all 50 boys and is expected to serve as a temporary means of voluntary employment for those unable to attend school for any period.

Banton won the 2020 Festival Song Competition with his song “I Am A Jamaican”.

Earlier this week the Foundation also announced the donation of laptops to the Sunbeam Children’s Home as well as desktop computers and chairs to the Mount Olivet Boy’s Home.

The Foundation revealed that rapper Kanye West, who visited Banton recently, contributed to the mission.
