Carib Cement denies reports of damage at Rockfort Plant after quake

Caribbean Cement Company Limited has denied statements and videos circulating on social media that have reported damage at its Rockfort Plant in Kingston following a 5.6 magnitude earthquake that rocked the island on Monday.

The quake, with its epicentre in Bull Bay, Portland, was felt at 10:57 am.

In its statement Monday afternoon, Carib Cement Company Limited said its investigations have revealed no damage at the plant in question, and operations are running as usual.

“Our technical team has advised that there was brief shutdown of energy, which has since normalised,” the company said.

Carib Cement thanked the public for their ongoing concern.

“We encourage everyone to remain safe in light of the recent earthquake,” it said.
