KINGSTON, Jamaica – A 41-year-old Chinese man was shot dead by unknown assailants Sunday in Spring Gardens, St James.
The police’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) reports that Yu Gyowei, otherwise called Simon, of Main Street, Hanover, was at a beach with another man about 12:00 pm when they were attacked by an armed man.
The gunman allegedly proceeded to rob the two before shooting them. Gyowei was pronounced dead at hospital while the other man was admitted. His condition at this time is not known.
Subsequent reports reaching OBSERVER ONLINE are that the alleged gunman was injured during the incident and was later accosted when he turned up for treatment at hospital.
