Cop killed in PJ Patterson Highway crash

A police constable was killed in a motor vehicle crash along the May Pen leg of the PJ Patterson Highway in Clarendon on Tuesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Constable Clive Wedderburn of the Clarendon police division, and of a New Harbour Village address in St Catherine.

Reports are that about 12:05 am, Wedderburn was driving a Toyota Corolla motor car in an easterly direction, when he allegedly collided in the back of a motor truck. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The crash brought to two the number of policemen killed in motor vehicle accidents in the last week.

Last Tuesday, police constable Rammone Smith of the St Catherine North police division and a female, Vanessa Natalie Johnson, were killed when the Nissan AD Wagon being driven by Smith collided with the rear of a truck along the Dam Head main road in Spanish Town, St Catherine.

Smith and Johnson, who was a passenger in the motor car, were taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.
