Cop shot with fish gun in serious condition at hospital

KINGSTON, Jamaica – A policeman remains in serious but stable condition at hospital after he was attacked by a man of unsound mind in Trelawny yesterday, September 2.

It is reported that about 6:00 pm, the policeman was part of a team conducting spot checks along the Greenwood main road in the parish when he was allegedly attacked and shot with a fish gun by the accused, 49-year-old Andrew Ferguson.

Another officer in the vicinity at the time reportedly came to his colleague’s assistance and shot Ferguson.

The two men were taken to hospital where the accused was pronounced dead and the policeman admitted.

The police’s Corporate Communication Unit (CCU) says the matter has been reported to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
