Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP, Paula Llewellyn, is to make public today her findings regarding allegations of breaches in the issuing of contracts by the Hanover and St. Thomas Parish Councils.
The Office of the Contractor General, OCG, recently released reports on both matters. Miss Llewellyn told RJR News she has completed her review and will send the responses to the OCG.
The DPP will disclose whether charges should be laid in the case involving former Mayor of Lucea, Shernette Haughton, who is accused of nepotism in the issuing of contracts. The other matter concerns breaches identified by the OCG in the issuing of millions of dollars worth of contracts by the St Thomas Parish Council.
The Contractor-General concluded that the award of the contracts was irregular and breached the OCG Act as well as Public Sector Procurement rules.
