Driver shot dead inside bus at Linstead Transportation Centre

Another bus driver was viciously slain by gunmen on Monday morning.

The driver, known as ‘Mr Brown’, was gunned down as he sat inside the Coaster bus he operated in the Linstead Transportation Centre shortly before 7:00 am.

He had been operating on the Linstead to Spanish Town route for many years according to some of his colleagues.

“We are left puzzled as to why anybody would want to kill Mr Brown,” one driver who plies the said route told Loop News Monday morning.

“That man always keep to himself,” he added.

At minutes to 10, the body was still inside the bus slumped over the wheel where he had been shot. This marks the third killing of a bus driver whose vehicle terminated inside the Spanish Town bus park in a little over three months.

On February 7, 42-year-old bus driver, Gary Patterson, of Sandy Bay, Clarendon, who plied the Spanish Town to May Pen route,  was shot and killed by a lone gunman while exiting the bus park with passengers, about 8:50 p.m.

Patterson’s killing followed the fatal shooting of another bus driver inside the Spanish Town bus park on November 7, last year. In that incident, 55-year-old Irvin McLagan was shot and killed by gunmen as he stood outside the bus he operated on the Spanish Town to Mandeville route.

There is now growing fear among operators of public passenger vehicles as they feel they are being targeted.
