Foreigner arrested at NMIA after ‘breaching COVID-19 protocol’

A foreign national who came to Jamaica and reportedly breached the Disaster Risk Management Act and then attempted to leave the island, was arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA).

Reports are that on November 6, the female British national who was staying in St Mary, was held trying to broad a plane to leave the island.

The police did not disclose the details of how she breached the Disaster Risk Management Act which in part deals with breaches of COVID-19 protocols, but said a warrant was issued for the woman’s arrest earlier in the month.

Reports are that the woman checked in to board a British Airways flight destined for London, and was arrested and handed over at the NMIA Police Station.

She was later picked up by members of the St Mary Police Division.
