KINGSTON, Jamaica –
Family and friends turned out in their numbers to pay their respect for the life of horse racing’s double Hall-of-Famer, Kenneth Mattis at a Service of Thanksgiving held at the Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Shortwood Road, Kingston today.
Christopher Brown, chairman of Caymanas Track Limited, described Mattis as a living legend in the horse racing industry during his tribute.
“Kiddie, as he was affectionate called, represented a unique and small group of horsemen, who successfully made the transition from being a successful jockey to also become a very successful trainer. He was a legend in his time as a jockey and as a trainer. And his legacy will continue for generations,” Brown said.
Widow, Yvonne Mattis told OBSERVER ONLINE that her husband was the best family person that one could ever have.
“My husband is one man that you could always depend on to talk the truth no matter what the situation was and he took very good care of his family as well,” she said.<
Kenneth Mattis died on Saturday, October 18.
