Jealousy believed to be motive behind nurse’s murder in St Ann

Police believe jealousy was the motive behind the fatal shooting of a St Ann nurse on Friday evening.

Ophelia Walloston, a registered nurse of Lime Hall in the parish, was shot multiple times by a man outside a supermarket in the parish capital of St Ann’s Bay at around 6:30 pm. She died on Saturday morning while undergoing treatment.

Police sources said the shooter, who turned himself over to law enforcement officials after the incident, was previously in a relationship with Walloston.

He reportedly confronted her about her relationship with another man, telling her she was ungrateful in light of all he had done for her, before pumping at least three bullets into her upper body.

Unconfirmed reports are that Walloston had a restraining order taken out against her attacker and had filed a complaint against the man earlier Friday.
