Jodian Fearon Died Of Heart Failure, Autopsy Reveals

Dr. Jephthah Ford, the independent pathologist hired by Jodian Fearon’s family to oversee her autopsy, and attorney Isat Buchanan, the family’s lawyer, speaking with Dionne Jackson Miller on Beyond the Headlines on Wednesday.

The autopsy on Jodian Fearon, the 23 year old woman who died shortly after giving birth at the Spanish Town Hospital, revealed that she died from heart failure.

The information was confirmed to Radio Jamaica News by Dr. Jephthah Ford, the independent pathologist hired by Miss Fearon’s family to oversee her autopsy.

Dr. Ford said Miss Fearon died of “progressive cardiac failure” brought about by cardiomyopathy.

The autopsy, which was conducted Wednesday afternoon, revealed she had been born with the congenital heart defect, commonly referred to as a “hole in the heart”.

Isat Buchanan, the attorney who represents Miss Fearon’s family, said the revelation was new to her family and apparently had not been picked up in any of her medical examinations during her lifetime.
