KINGSTON, Jamaica — A man is dead and a woman injured following a shooting incident in downtown Kingston this afternoon.
The dead man has not yet been identified by the police.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communications Unit confirmed the incident, but said they could not provide details.
OBSERVER ONLINE understands, however, that the incident occurred shortly after 4:00 pm in the vicinity of the St Thomas bus stop. It is said that the man was shot dead by an off-duty Jamaica Defence Force officer during a robbery attempt.
The condition of the woman is not known at this time.
