The 47-year-old medical assistant was charged with child stealing last Saturday after the day-old baby was found in her possession in Rollington Town.

The baby girl went missing from ward 11 at the University Hospital of the West Indies last Friday.

She had been delivered on Thursday, December 8, and was last seen in the cot adjacent to her mother’s bed earlier that morning.

At the time of the child’s disappearance, the hospital said the only people in the ward were nurses on duty, and doctors and other medical staff who were making clinical rounds.

Last Saturday, the police had said that Williams was scheduled to appear before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court today.
