Johnny Kemp—
THE St James police are ruling out foul play in the death of Bahamian-American singer Johnny Kemp.
Kemp, 55, known for the 1987 dance anthem Just Got Paid was found floating face down at a beach in Montego Bay on Thursday.
The police said they have interviewed several passengers aboard the cruise ship on which Kemp was a passenger and based on their investigations, he died from natural causes.
According to the Corporate Communications Unit, the police’s information arm, the singer’s body was found face down at the beach around 9:50 am on Thursday. He apparently suffered head injuries and was fully clothed.
Kemp — who was seen walking on the rocks earlier in the morning — is believed to have lost his balance, fell, hit his head and drowned.
The singer, who lived in New York, is survived by his widow and two children.
