Noel Hylton dies

KINGSTON, Jamaica –  Former Port Authority of Jamaica (PAJ) president and chairman Noel Hylton died Saturday afternoon at the University Hospital of the West Indies Intensive Care Unit after a long illness.

Born in August 1931 and an accountant by profession, Hylton was acknowledged for his considerable achievements in the public and private sectors which spanned more than 40 years.

He retired in 2013 and was hailed by then Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller for his record of service, commitment, dedication, passion and achievement.

“He stamped his indelible mark on the PAJ and has chalked up an impressive and enviable record of public service, a testimony to his quest for excellence…

He has served with equal distinction under no fewer than six Prime Ministers, spanning both political administrations,” Simpson Miller said at a farewell reception held at the Terra Nova Hotel in Kingston on Thursday, October 31, 2013.
