Over 200 wanted persons roaming the streets- JCF

The police high command is reporting that it has intelligence that suggests that there are over 200 wanted criminals possibly rooming the streets of Jamaica.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Fitz Bailey, says in light of this information, the high command is calling on Jamaicans from all walks of life to play a role in providing information leading to their arrest.

“There are over 200 wanted persons; persons who are wanted for serious crimes. They have engaged in murder, extortion, rape, etcetera,” said Bailey, who is in charge of the crime portfolio.

“I want to appeal to these individuals who are wanted by the police to turn themselves in. I also want to appeal to their relatives to encourage them to surrender to the police…, and to citizens within the various communities to encourage these individuals to report or hand themselves into the police,” he pleaded.

The DCP was speaking at a police press conference held on Thursday. It came amid the rising levels of murders across Jamaica, where approximately 112 persons were killed up to Sunday.

Bailey also appealed to religious groups, pastors, justices of the peace (JPs), and lawyers to encourage those wanted individuals to surrender to the police.

During his presentation, he revealed the 90 most wanted criminals across the several parishes, 48 of whom are wanted for murders.

Among those wanted for murder in Hanover is Ricardo Palmer, alias Ritchie, who frequents Norwood in St James.

While several men are wanted for murders in Hanover, there are a few hoodlums being sought for rape in that parish.

Among them are: O’Brien Thomas; Leon Lloyd Reckard, alias ‘Brown Dawg’; Omario James, alias ‘Kicksa’; and Nicholas Stephens.

In St James, which is leading the way in murders so far this year, Shaquille Nathaniel Brown, Nickeelo Lewis, alias ‘Kino’, ‘Jay’ and ‘Rich Kidd’, and Gerald McNaughton, alias ‘Ice’ or ‘Ice T’, are among those being sought for several homicides.

Brian Forbes, alias ‘QQ’ is wanted for a double murder in St Ann, according to Bailey.

He described Forbes as being “very elusive”, as he (Forbes) was listed as wanted during the deputy commissioner’s time as head of the Area Two Police Division, which comprises the parishes of St Ann, St Mary and Portland.

In St Andrew South, Albert Mitchell, alias ‘Ballie’ is wanted for murder. He is associated with to Unruly Gang.

Several men are also wanted or criminal acts in the crime-plagued Kingston Central Police Division, which featured heavily on last year’s murder statistics.

In that division, Shawniel Mae, who is affiliated with the Genocide gang, is wanted for shooting at the police, Bailey said.

Shanrick Shevaughn Nugent, alias ‘Dan Dan’, who is linked to the Fleet Street gang, is being sought for a murder committed in Central Kingston.

Persons with information leading to the arrest of these and other wanted persons are being asked to contact Crime Stop at 311, Operation Kingfish – 811, police emergency – 119, CIB headquarters at 876-929-9256, or any local police station.
