The Police High Command has expressed condolences to the family and colleagues of Inspector Rupert Harper who died suddenly while on duty on Saturday, February 5.
Harper was reportedly managing a dispute in Papine, St Andrew when he fell ill and collapsed.
He was transported to the hospital, where he died.
The lawman was based at the Detention and Courts Division of the police force at the time of his passing. He served the division for seven years after being transferred there from the St Andrew South Police Division in 2013.
He also served the Mobile Reserve Division and the Band Division.
Harper has been described as having been an upbeat, optimistic individual who fiercely defended the well-being of personnel who worked under his command.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
In a release, the High Command said personnel from the Chaplaincy Services Branch and the Community Safety and Security Branch have been working with the family and colleagues of the deceased lawman as they go through the difficult time.
