Real estate developer on forgery charges denied bail

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Real estate developer Christopher Kerr was denied bail when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s court on Wednesday.

Resident Magistrate Kaysha Grant told Kerr that he could not be given bail because he goes by different names and has no fixed place of abode.

The prosecutor also told the court that Kerr was a Canadian citizen and a flight risk.

Kerr was charged with four counts of uttering forged documents and two counts forgery.

It is alleged that Kerr, who gave his name in court as Christopher Watson-Kerr, obtained three passports, two tax registration numbers, two driver’s licences and four birth certificates in the name Christopher Watson-Kerr.

The charges surround the fact that the birth name of the accused is Donovan Watson Kerr, Watson being his middle name.
