‘Rogue taximen’ from Kingston charged for St Thomas robbery

Police say they have now charged two men, who in June of this year reportedly held up and robbed a female in Morant Bay, St Thomas.

Police say they also have information that suggests that the men left Kingston and went to the parish posing as taxi operators.

The men identified as Andre Marriott, a 30-year-old resident of Harriman Close, Kingston 6 and Ritchie Grant, a 22-year-old man of Mills Borough in Barbican, Kingston 8 have both been slapped with robbery with aggravation charges.

Police say they were recently identified at an identification parade and charged.

St Thomas police report that on Saturday, June 15 about 9:55 a.m., Marriott and Grant were traveling on Belvedere main road in a motor vehicle which was being operated as a taxi.

The men picked up a woman and on reaching a section of the roadway held her up with knives and stole her purse containing numerous documents, two cellular phones, and other personal belongings.

Allegations are that the men then left that location and were trying to stage another robbery in Kingston and were arrested.

Their court date will be announced at a later date.
