‘Rooksie’ remanded in custody

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Reputed Rose Town, Kingston strongman 44-year-old Uriel James, otherwise called ‘Rooksie’, was remanded into custody when he appeared in the Home Circuit Court today, Wednesday, June 4.

The Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Taskforce (MOCA) arrested James in Constant Spring, St Andrew on Tuesday March 12, 2013.

Subsequent to James’ arrest an operation was conducted at premises he occupied where large sums of money, financial documents and a list with the names of several witnesses were allegedly seized.

At the time of his arrest on March 12, 2013, James was on bail for charges of murder and shooting with intent, which were before the High Court and Resident Magistrate’s Division of the Gun Court respectively.

James is scheduled to return to court on Monday December 1, 2014..
