Security guard nabbed after ‘digging off’ with $100,000 

Thirty-two-year-old Kareem Cunningham, otherwise called ‘Bredda’, a security guard of Hatfield Road in Portmore, St Catherine, was charged with embezzlement following an incident that occurred on Main Street in Mandeville, Manchester on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.

Reports indicate that about 11:30 am on that day, Cunningham received the sum of $227,652 from a customer, which was intended to be deposited into a company vault.

However, he allegedly took $100,000 for his personal use, and only deposited $127,652 into the vault.

Cunningham did not return to work thereafter.

On Friday, April 4, 2024, he was apprehended by the police in Portmore, St Catherine, and during an interview with the police, he reportedly provided a caution statement in which he admitted to having committed the crime.

He was subsequently charged and is scheduled to appear in the Manchester Parish Court in Mandeville on Wednesday, April 17.
