Stephen Marley’s set to bear fruit

Stephen Marley is set to release his fourth studio album, Revelation Part II: The Fruit of Life, on July 22.

The release is scheduled to come at the end of a 44-city, United States coast-to-coast run, which is slated to begin in Redway, California on Thursday, May 26 and ends in New Orleans on July 24.

Produced by Marley, the 23-track digital set boasts songs including Rock Stone, featuring Capleton and Sizzla; Ghetto Boy featuring Bounty Killer & Cobra, and Scars On My Feet with Waka Flocka.

Other collabs feature Rick Ross, Pit Bull, Damian ‘Junior Gong’ Marley, Iggy Azalea, Dead Prez, Rakim, DJ Khaled, Busta Rhymes, Wyclef Jean, Shaggy, Black Thought (of The Roots), Ky-Mani Marley, and Jo Mersa.

Fruit of Life is the second installment of his two part series, following Revelation Part I: The Root of Life (2011). Whereas The Root of Life is more a traditional roots reggae album, The Fruit of Life will utilise a diversified sonic palette to express the far-reaching impact Jamaican music has had on various genres, including hip hop.

Marley, son of reggae legend Bob Marley, has earned a total of six Best Reggae Grammy Awards: three with the sibling group Melody Makers and three as a solo artiste. These include Mind Control (2008), Mind Control — Acoustic (2010) and

Revelation Pt 1: Root of Life (2012).
