A taxi driver was killed in a motor vehicle crash in St Thomas on Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Christopher Brown of Yallahs in the parish.

The circumstances that led to the accident are still unclear but Loop News understands that the crash occurred at a single lane bridge along the Yallahs to Lloyds main road, near the Logwood main road intersection.

It was among at least two fatal road crashes on Christmas Day. In another incident, a man died after his vehicle crashed into a house and burst into flames along the Content main road in Manchester.

The accidents came just days after the Road Safety Unit (RSU) in the Ministry of Transport and Mining issued a call for motorists to exercise greater caution when traveling on the roads.

Director of the RSU, Kenute Hare, said as the Christmas season approached, persons, particularly motorists and pedestrians, should exercise greater care on the roads.
