US flights from Sangster airport cancelled due to winter storm 

ST JAMES, Jamaica — Three flights out of Montego Bay to New York and Newark in the United States have been cancelled due to the onset of Winter Storm Helena.

MBJ Airports Limited, operators of Sangster International Airport (SIA), also advised that other flights are expected to experience delays due to the severe weather affecting cities in southern and north-eastern parts of the US.

A major winter storm warning is forecast from Pennsylvania to Maine with the New York City area expected to receive up to one foot of snow. New York City schools are closed for the day, AFP has reported.

The following airlines that were scheduled to depart today have confirmed cancellation of these flights:

JETBLUE – Flight number B61880 – Destination – New York

UNITED – Flight number UA1628 – Destination – Newark

JETBLUE – Flight number – B6780 – Destination – New York

Passengers impacted by these and other flight changes should contact their respective airline representatives for rebooking options, MBJ said in its advisory.

Industry Partners are also encouraged to make contact with airlines to confirm flight operations prior to transporting passengers to the airport.
