700 more cops to be deployed for Christmas

KINGSTON, Jamaica (JIS) – An additional 700 police personnel will be deployed across the island for the Christmas season to improve safety and security.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in charge of Operations, Clifford Blake, said that persons will be taken from offices, desk duties and from the National Police College of Jamaica and deployed to the streets.

“While these desk jobs are important, we have to prioritise our focus for this time of year [which is] crime reduction, public safety and reassurance,” DCP Blake explained.

The Deputy Commissioner was speaking yesterday at the annual Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) Yuletide season press briefing held at the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Old Hope Road.
